Anca-Sonia

Painter, sculptor, and set designer, born in 1969 in Bucharest, Romania, and of French nationality. A graduate of the Nicolae Tonitza School, the Nicolae Grigorescu Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest, and the Villa Arson in Nice, she has for several years studied and focused her work on her preferred theme, "Contemporary Prehistory," which she explores through a rich and exceptional artistic diversity, encompassing drawing, painting, and sculpture.

She has exhibited since 1990 in numerous prestigious venues, museums, and international art fairs. In 1993, she founded the Anca-Sonia School of Fine Arts in Grasse, where she serves as artistic and pedagogical director. The pictorial signature of Anca-Sonia in her works is a path of light. Anca-Sonia, artist and educator, invites us to a rendezvous with ourselves.

With her monumental canvases, she guides the visitor upwards… I was about to write the spectator, for it is indeed to the theater that the artist invites us with a masterfully vibrant work; a stage where she chooses her roles thematically, adapting and immersing herself in the very depths of her creations with grace, power, and always this central theme that runs through her entire unique oeuvre: Balance. Everything is balance.

And since she is an artist beyond the canvases, composing a universe imbued with aesthetics and romantic poetry, here she is, simply stating, “A diapason”… Her work is a symphony, and what do the serious or questioning expressions of the painted and sculpted animals or beings matter, since ultimately it is life, light, that must triumph over all… To meditate.
