Pascal Giroud

Pascal Giroud is a French artist born in 1971.

For as long as I can remember, I've always been drawn to art. I spent my childhood with a pencil in my hand and my adolescence studying music, but it wasn't until about 24 years ago that I began to take a "serious" interest in painting. Being self-taught, I experimented with several mediums (watercolor, acrylic, etc.) before finally settling on oil painting.

At that time, it was primarily a passion that I pursued alongside my professional career. In 1998, I exhibited my first canvases at the Jacques Royan Gallery in Lyon. A year later, the City of Caluire asked me to exhibit my paintings of Lyon and its surroundings. At 30, following a solo exhibition, I returned to the Pierre Jean Chaffrey Academy of Painting, where I taught painters André Disdier, Pascale Paradis, and Norbert Vaginay, and participated in group exhibitions at the Galerie de l'Olympe in Lyon.

They passionately shared their knowledge with me. In 2009, I decided to turn professional, left the Lyon region, and opened my studio in Sisteron (Haute-Provence). I participate in numerous art fairs in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and exhibit regularly in Aix-en-Provence.

My career has led me to exhibit in many galleries in France and abroad (Russia, China, USA, Netherlands, etc.). Whether painting en plein air or in my studio, I practice an "Alla Prima" technique, completing my paintings in a single session because I like to preserve the spontaneity of the first impression. This is why I primarily work on a small scale.
